Huntress of Thornbeck Forest,Medieval Fairy Tale Romance Series #`1
By Melanie Dickerson / Thomas Nelson
Jorgen is the gamekeeper for the wealthy margrave, and he is in pursuit of the poacher who has been killing and stealing the margrave’s game. When he meets the lovely and refined Odette at the festival and shares a connection during a dance, he has no idea that at night she is the one who has been poaching the margrave’s game.
Odette is caught up in a ring of black market sellers of poached animals. She thinks the game is going to feed the poor, who are all but starving, both in the city and just outside its walls. However, most of the animals are being sold by the greedy leader of the ring-her stepfather. When Odette discovers what he is doing, she threatens to expose him, putting herself in great danger.
It is no secret that I’m a sucker for a good fairytale. Even as a young girl I loved how these prince and princesses have overcome all the odds that were against them for love. As a teen and now an adult I find I still love a good story. And again, Melanie Dickerson, fulfilled my story telling fantasy with another fairytale twist.
This one is based on a combination of Robin Hood and The Swan Princess. It’s book 1 in a new series called “The Tales of Thornbeck”. Which, I’m really excited about. This one was a bit different from some of the other previous “fairy tale” inspired books where the characters where entwined with nobility. This character is a merchant’s niece and the love interest works for the landowner.
This one kept me guessing until the end and I won’t spoil it for you so I won’t tell you if it all worked out the way you hope. You will have to read it to find out. As a mom of teen girls I will say these stories and fun, wholesome and entertaining and would be a great selection to pick up for your teen/young adult.
